The section of the 400 km North Marmara Motorway between Gebze-İzmit Junction will be opened by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu on Saturday, September 19, with a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with a video conference. Karaismailoğlu stated that they will open the section between the Gebze-İzmit Junction with a total length of 43,3 kilometers, 14,1 kilometers of the main road and 57,4 kilometers of the connection road between Kurtköy-Akyazı on Saturday, and said, "Thus, the section of the Northern Marmara Highway opened to traffic. It will have reached 321,2 kilometers. The most important criterion for us is that our citizens can travel safely and comfortably. "May our path be auspicious already".
A New Alternative Way Will Be Created
Minister Karaismailoğlu emphasized that the Northern Marmara Motorway is of great importance in terms of reducing the traffic density in the city and on the existing Bosphorus bridges and ensuring transit passage of vehicles without entering urban traffic, and underlined that thanks to the opened sections of the project, significant relief has already been achieved in the urban traffic of Istanbul.
Karaismailoğlu said, “With the opening of Gebze-İzmit Junction to traffic, a fast, safe and comfortable new transportation alternative will be created to the existing TEM Highway and D-100 Highway, which are exposed to high traffic volume between Istanbul and Kocaeli. Vehicles coming from Istanbul using the Northern Marmara Motorway will be connected to Izmit and Izmit-Kandıra State Road in Çayırköy and to TEM Istanbul-Ankara Highway between the Kandıra and East İzmit Junctions of the current TEM Highway. 595 Million Lira Will Be Saved With The Project
Minister Karaismailoğlu said that the Northern Marmara Motorway will join the Kınalı-Tekirdağ-Çanakkale-Savaştepe Highway, which also includes the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, and the Istanbul-İzmir Highway, integrating the Northern Marmara Region and the South Marmara Region into the transportation system in the Western Anatolia Region. told.
