Turkey's first Aviation, Space and Technology Festival in teknofest, excitement continues with the National Technological Breakthrough target. Before TEKNOFEST, which will be held in Gaziantep on September 24-27, TÜRKSAT Model Satellite Competition started. Locally designed model satellites were launched by rocket this year, unlike previous years. In the competition, where 18 teams from 149 different universities applied, teams that qualified for the finals displayed their skills at the Defense Industry Directorate's Salt Lake Facilities. The Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank and the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismailoğlu, who watched the contest on site, shared the excitement of the young people in the placement and firing of the rockets on the ramps.

Minister Varank stated that 3 teams, 146 domestic and 3 foreign teams, participated in the competition, which started with 149 teams this year. Stating that there are young people doing very successful works, Varank said, “We have a team from Zonguldak. This year it will send the real Turkish satellite into space. Varank, who visited the stands of the finalists one by one, wished success to the contestants. On the other hand, Minister Varank also fired a rocket on which the model satellite was placed.

TÜRKSAT Model Satellite Competition is a design-build-launch competition. It provides competitors with the opportunity to experience the process of designing a space / satellite system, from its launch to mission. The TURKSAT Model Satellite Competition is planned to reflect a space / satellite project on a small scale. It covers all aspects of a space / satellite project, from design to production and post-mission review. Competition; It is designed to reflect various aspects of real systems with features such as meeting telemetry and communication requirements, providing autonomous structure and developing a system that works between disciplines.

EXPERIENCE SHARING

The TURKSAT Model Satellite Competition aims to provide undergraduate and graduate students with the opportunity to transform theoretical knowledge into practice and to gain interdisciplinary study skills. In addition, students share their experiences with other university teams; It is aimed to have the opportunity to communicate with institutions, companies, experts and engineers operating in the sector.
