Winners of the idea marathon named “Hack4Mobility Ideathon İzmir” organized in cooperation with İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and Open Innovation Association received their awards. It is aimed to evaluate the award-winning projects focusing on cycling, pedestrian and smart transportation within the transportation planning of the city.

The groups ranking the highest in the idea marathon called “Hack4Mobility Ideathon İzmir” organized in cooperation with İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and Open Innovation Association received their awards. In the 36-hour marathon focused on cycling, pedestrian and smart transportation for Alsancak, the team from "Kent" was the first, the "Interdisciplinary" team came second and the "Team Symrna" group came third. The team named Çakıl was awarded the Open Innovation Award. The members of the first team were rewarded with a 3D printer, while the second group received a XNUMXD drawing and mouse set, and the third group was gifted with a graphic tablet. The Idea marathon was held on 11-12 January 2020 in order to increase the quality of life of the citizens. In the 36-hour marathon, it was aimed to produce projects on bicyclists, pedestrians and smart transportation in Alsancak. 250 competitors from the departments of universities such as architecture, city and regional planning, industrial design, graphic design, software, sociology, and graduates of these departments, including university, graduate and doctorate students, carried out many projects based on digital infrastructure.

Award-winning projects

The project of the group of Urbanism, which took the first place, includes the public transportation system that is instantly shaped according to the demand. The project aims to produce instant transportation solutions according to the intensity of the demands coming from digital applications during the times when public transportation becomes less frequent.

The project of the Interdisciplinary group, which took the second place, includes the application of "IZ-RING Electric Autonomous Vehicle" aimed at clearing Kordon from traffic. The project of the TeamSmyrna group, which took the third place, also includes a proposal to underground the traffic for the pedestrianization of the Alsancak region. The project aims to strengthen pedestrianization with smart transportation and micro mobility solutions.

The project of the Çakır group, which received the Jury Special Award, proposes a system that generates electricity when exercising in outdoor sports fields. Citizens can also charge their personal electronic devices with the electricity they produce while doing sports. The electricity produced can also be used in the lighting of parks.
