Stating that the Gebze-İzmit Motorway's four-way and four-way lane width will also ease the most congested section of the Istanbul-Ankara route, Erdogan added that the history of vehicle traffic will be mixed in periods such as religious holidays. Vehicles coming from Istanbul using the Northern Marmara Motorway will be connected to Izmit and Izmit-Kandıra State Road in Çayırköy, and to the TEM Istanbul-Ankara Highway between the Kandıra and East İzmit intersections of the current TEM Highway.
