Under the coordination of Sivas Governorship, with the contributions of Sivas Municipality and TCDD, an information program on the Contribution of the Sivas-Ankara High Speed Train to the Socio-Economic Development of Sivas was organized.
In the program, which started with a moment of silence and reading the National Anthem at Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu Cultural Center, the participants were first shown a promotional film of the high-speed train project.
The program was held by Sivas TCDD 4th Regional Directorate Railway Construction Group Manager Serdar Ayan's construction history of Sivas-Ankara YHT line and Sociology Expert Assoc. Dr. Sevda Mutlu's presentation on YHT Perception and Expectations of Sivas people and CSOs in Sivas.

Sivas Governor Salih Ayhan, in his speech in the program; Expressing that high-speed trains have started to become widespread throughout the world with the developing and changing technology, increased responsibility towards nature and the understanding of efficiency, he stated that over time, high-speed trains can replace road and air transportation in short distance journeys.
Noting that the increase in fuel prices worldwide, traffic congestion, emission values and the gains of public transportation in spite of vehicle travel, Governor Ayhan said that in this context, the opening of urban light rail systems and high-speed train corridors attracted the attention of the transportation sector and contributed to the development of investments.
Explaining that Japan went down in history as the first country to implement high-speed trains in 1964, Governor Ayhan said, “While the aim was to shorten the distance between the two cities in the first plan, the way was paved for the rapid and fluid displacement of production factors between the cities that experienced economic development. Today, we see that the high-speed train line, called Shinkansen, carries about 300 million people annually on the island of Honshu, Japan's largest island. High speed train is one of the most modern transportation systems in public transportation and it is thought to have positive effects in many areas from economy to social and cultural life. he spoke.

The high-speed train, which started its first voyage in our country in 2009, continues to expand its networks with capital-based lines. Stating that Sivas started the preliminary preparations for the high-speed train, which will start its flights between Ankara and Sivas in the near future, Governor Ayhan said, “Mountains are crossed, rivers are crossed, Sivas meets with YHT. In addition, with the researches we conducted, we analyzed the sectoral effects of the High Speed Train through the examples of Eskişehir and Konya. Since 2018, we have entered a period where our mental preparations have become concrete and when it will be opened. During this period, we organized workshops where the opinions of every part of the city were taken. The most important agenda of Sivas's 2018 vision in the 'Future with a Common Mind Workshop in 2023 and the sectoral workshops we organized this year was again the High Speed Train. We will be able to see the traces of this interaction in many social, cultural, scientific, economic and sports fields. We will create a new urban development corridor by combining not only with a railway line but with all our dynamics. We expect the first development to be in the service sector. Stating that high-speed trains will benefit Sivas's tourism potential, Governor Ayhan said, “With the Tourism Academy we will establish to increase the quality of service, we will provide all our employees working in the field of tourism with accredited training. In this sense, we read the era well and follow the changing understanding of tourism. We aim to make Sivas a destination center with an effective tourism promotion. Our city is almost an open-air museum with its nature, history and unique city square. We are creating new attraction centers that will add value to our city and contribute to its visibility. Hamidiye Culture Park, Altınkale Project, Yıldız Mountain Winter Sports Center, Hafik Lake, Tödürge Lake, Gökpınar Lake, Kangal Dog Production, Training and Protection Center, Emirhan Rocks, Divriği Arasta Bazaar are some of them. The most important examples of the tourism reflections of the cultural values of the city are of course the Museums.
