Affiliated to Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, SAMULAŞ A.Ş. General Manager Enver Sedat Tamgacı stated that they reduced the voyage interval to 5 minutes during peak hours and said, “We use 96 percent of our fleet. We have taken all the necessary measures from the first day of the pandemic. We expect our citizens to assist our staff, ”he said.

SAMULAŞ, spending an intense overtime to reduce the density of the trams providing the urban transportation of Samsun and to provide uninterrupted service to the citizens, increased the number of trips and reduced the time intervals to 5 minutes. Stating that they reduce the voyage intervals during peak hours, SAMULAŞ A.Ş General Manager Enver Sedat Tamgacı said, “Our maintenance teams carry out 7/24 maintenance, repair and control in order to serve Samsun public transportation with all trams in our tram fleet. In addition, we ensure that the heavy maintenance and repair works of the trams do not affect the next day by planning the night shift and working with the tram completely with additional shifts. As we need to consider the maintenance of our trams for sustainable transportation, we provide services with 96 trams, using 28 percent of our fleet during peak hours during the day ”.

Tamgacı stated that they arranged the voyage intervals to be 5 minutes with the planning made during the working hours, “In order to reduce these times even more, we are trying to prevent the formation of intensity in the tram by making additional trips between 07.15 and 07.40. From 09.00 to 10.00, when the intensity decreases, the intervals will be 6-7 minutes. It was planned as 10.00 minutes between 13.00 and 8. As the intensity starts to increase after 13.00, we reduce the intervals to 7 minutes, and after 14.00 to 6 minutes. We try to prevent the formation of intensity by reducing the intervals to 16.30 minutes after 5, when working hours start. He added that between 18.00 and 18.30 in the evening, additional trips are made due to the end time of the industrial zone.

Emphasizing that the trainings of the staff on duty are carried out regularly, Enver Sedat Tamgacı said, “All necessary measures are taken within the possibilities regarding tramway intervals. In addition to these studies, the trams coming to the stations are controlled by our security personnel. In case of density, the control center is contacted. Depending on the density, passenger boarding on the tram is stopped and we provide the necessary information. In addition, our mobile security personnel perform the seating arrangement, social distance and mask checks all day long in our trams ”and said:

“In addition to all these efforts, we take care to increase the sensitivity of our passengers on the subject by making social distance announcements from our stations, use of masks and social distance announcements in the tram. Detailed cleaning of our trams at the end of each evening is done with care. In addition, our trams are disinfected with special disinfectants every time during the day. We expect our citizens to pay attention to the warnings of our staff and help them in this regard. "
