Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to take additional measures to reorganize the passenger capacity in public transportation vehicles in order to prevent the increase of Covid-19 cases. In EGO buses, ANKARAY and Metro serving in the capital, floor stickers are placed to ensure that passengers leave at least 1 meter distance to each other.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality took action on limiting the number of standing passengers and re-determining the passenger capacity in public transportation vehicles serving in the capital in line with the decision taken by the Provincial General Hygiene Board.

While the General Directorate of EGO takes additional measures to reduce the risk of transmission of the coronavirus epidemic, it has started to place stickers on public transport vehicles belonging to EGO in order to ensure that the social distance is maintained and the citizens comply with the rule of at least 1 meter.

PRIORITY PUBLIC HEALTH

It is aimed to ensure that passengers comply with social distance rules by raising awareness thanks to the floor stickers placed on public transportation vehicles used by the citizens of the capital.

Zafer Tekbudak, Deputy General Manager of EGO, stated that daily disinfection works in public transportation vehicles are also continuing for public health and gave the following information about the new regulation:

“As the General Directorate of EGO, we took some new measures in our public transportation vehicles with the decision of the Provincial Sanitation Board. Upon the limitation of the number of standing passengers with the new decision, we started to affix the stickers (stickers) that we had made in order to protect the social distance of our citizens who will travel while standing on the floor of our buses at intervals in accordance with social distance. We started to stick stickers to all of our 1547 buses affiliated to EGO in a way to maintain social distance, and we will complete it in a very short time.

Serdar Yeşilyurt, Head of the Transportation Planning and Rail System Department of EGO General Directorate, emphasized that the implementation is important for public health and made the following evaluations:

“With the instructions of our Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mr. Mansur Yavaş and the orders of our General Manager, with the decision of the Provincial Hygiene Board numbered 2020/71, we started to stick labels in order to identify 50 percent of standing passengers on our trains and show their location. With these labels, we reduced our train capacity from 342 to 192. While we normally need to take 150 passengers, we made arrangements for 95 passengers according to the decision of the Provincial Hygiene Board. We request our passengers who cannot print the labels to wait for another train. If necessary, we will send additional trains. "
