BURULAŞ Warned! Let You Travel Outside of Non-Urgent Hours

Metro and buses, which served with 10 percent passenger capacity in March, carried 65 thousand people per day with 450 percent occupancy rate in September. Preparing to add 85 more buses to its fleet in order to reduce the density, BURULAŞ warned that "it should travel outside of working hours without urgency".

Nowadays, when coronavirus cases are increasing, people travel without complying with the social distance rule in public transport due to the intensity experienced during working hours. Adding the opening of classrooms to the peak hours, the increase in the number of passengers on public transportation reached the highest level. Metro and buses, which served with 10 percent passenger capacity in March, carried 65 thousand people per day with 450 percent occupancy rate in September.

"DO NOT TRAVEL ON PIC HOURS WITHOUT urgency"

Calling the citizens, BURULAŞ General Manager Mehmet Kürşat Çapar said, "They should travel outside of working hours without an urgent job". Emphasizing that they expect the regulation regarding working hours, Çapar said, “The density peaks at 07.30-09.30 and 16.30-19.00 hours. The opening and closing hours of places such as shopping malls and private teaching institutions should be adjusted according to the intensity. We also want citizens without urgency not to travel outside of these hours. Because we currently serve 450 thousand passengers a day, and schools have not been opened. Last year, when the schools were opened, we were carrying 800 thousand passengers. However, it is not possible for us to carry this many people this year ”.

85 THE NEW BUS ...

Noting that they continue to work to reduce the density and risk in vehicles, Çapar said, “We will add 85 more buses to our fleet with the tender we will make this month. Thus, we will have made an investment of 100 million in transportation. T1 continues to serve, but we have not yet put the T3 on Cumhuriyet Street into operation. "There is no problem with sitting side by side in vehicles, but sitting opposite to each other is prohibited," he said.

NEW SYSTEM FOR AIR CONDITIONERS ...

Noting that they have implemented a new study for the ventilation system, Çapar said, “We install ultraviolet disinfectant into the air conditioners. The air conditioner, which takes the air inside with this system, will kill harmful living things and release air again. Some of our vehicles have this system. We continue to attach to the remaining ones. "There is no risk of ventilation in our transportation vehicles," he said.

EYES IN THE GOVERNORATE

Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş made a call for the regulation of working hours in factories, public institutions and organizations and workplaces in order to reduce the density and announced that the proposal was on the Governor's desk. The last word was left to the Governorate, whose suggestions and requests regarding working hours were made as a result of the negotiations with the parties of the issue. While no concrete steps have been taken on the subject, the decision of the governorship on the regulation in working hours is expected. The intensity experienced during work entry and exit hours makes citizens more anxious with each passing day. (Derya Demir Pınar / Incident)
