Request from ATO to Let Ankara Train Station and Esenboğa Halls of Honor Become a Museum

Gürsel Baran, Chairman of the Board of Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO), presented two new museum requests for Ankara to Minister Karaismailoğlu.

Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) Chairman Gürsel Baran visited Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu with a delegation including Vice Presidents Temel Aktay, Halil Ibrahim Yılmaz and Board Members. Ali Ayvazoğlu, Ankara Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism, was also present in the delegation.

Speaking during the visit President Baran ATO, noting that Turkey has successfully managed the pandemic period, most from the process of transportation and logistics, aerospace and told us that the road passenger transport industry affected. Noting that the real sector felt the support of the government during the pandemic process, Baran said, "The Economic Stability Shield Package and the supports implemented afterwards have greatly benefited the continuity of production and employment."

Noting that officials of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure are working on the "Road Passenger Transport Regulation", Baran suggested that the Assembly and Committee members representing the transportation sector in the Ankara Chamber of Commerce also participate in this study.

ANKARA HIGH SPEED TRAIN CENTER

Providing information about the activities of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce, Baran conveyed to Minister Karaismailoğlu their work, especially direct flights abroad, for the economic and social development of the city. Stating that they will continue the activities aimed at increasing the number of direct flights abroad after the pandemic, Baran asked for support from Minister Karaismailoğlu regarding the issue. Baran stated that Ankara will become the center of high-speed train transportation with other lines to be commissioned after Ankara-Konya, Ankara-Eskişehir, Ankara-Istanbul lines.

Baran also mentioned the work they carried out with the Ankara Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism on tourism, which is one of the important sectors for the development of Ankara, and proposed a project to evaluate the station building and the places that were formerly used as the Hall of Honor as a museum. Baran said, "We, together with our Ankara Culture and Tourism Provincial Directorate, are ready to do whatever we can do to bring two new museums to our city."

PRE-STUDY FOR THE MUSEUM

Adil Karaismailoğlu, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, stated in his speech that he welcomed the railway station and the airport and gave instructions for a preliminary study on the subject.

SUPPORT FOR INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS

Minister Karaismailoğlu said that they will support the efforts to increase direct flights from Ankara to abroad after the pandemic process.

Minister Karaismailoğlu, who gave information about the transportation projects they carry out as the Ministry, stated that Ankara will be the center of the high-speed train with the addition of Ankara to Istanbul line and said, "It is important to establish the railway culture not only for passengers but also for logistics." Karaismailoğlu said that when the tunnels under construction between Ankara and Istanbul are completed, the travel time will be shortened by 45 minutes.

  1. yes, the old station building in Ankara should be drawn to someone as a gift. It may be a museum as the property of the railways. The building next to the station has already been allegedly allocated to the medipol. Is the allocation rented? the duration is not clear.
