Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Assoc.Prof., Who examined the works of the metro project, which was founded by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and then transferred to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure with the initiatives of Büyükakın. When Kocaeli Metro is completed, 55 thousand vehicles will be withdrawn from traffic

Evaluating the stage reached in the metro work, Büyükakın said, “Approximately 250 meters of production was made. But the total of the Metro construction was approached 600 meters. Operations and construction work continue in accordance with the work schedule approximately. We normally had statements about commissioning in 2023. Our Minister of Transport had announced when he arrived. Manufacturing work continues throughout the city. Work continues at about 10 points. Studies continue at all points. Hopefully, in 2023, we will reach the target of the region to have the metro. Both Darıca and Gebze will primarily benefit from metro comfort in the region. When we look at it from an environmental perspective, it will be a very important gain. We anticipate that approximately 55 thousand vehicles will be pulled from daily traffic. This is also very important in terms of environmental pollution and climate change ”.

"It will be integrated with the rail systems in Istanbul"

Stating that the metro project will be integrated with the rail systems in Istanbul when it is completed, Büyükakın said, “This metro also has a feature. Integrated to Marmaray. In fact, with this metro line, we are integrated into all rail system lines in Istanbul. If you come to the Marmaray station over the metro and transfer, it will be possible to reach Çayırova, and from there to Istanbul, for example Kartal. There will be an opportunity to cross. With the Metro to be built on the Sabiha Gökçen side, it will also provide a transportation opportunity to Sabiha Gökçen. In fact, it is a very strategic and smart investment. Especially in terms of its integration with Marmaray, it will be much easier for our citizens living in the Gebze region to access Istanbul, the urban transportation between our South region and our North region will be extremely comfortable, and our citizens in Darıca or Gebze will be able to move in the opposite direction from there to the OIZs. a study. It is really a work that will save Gebze's future ”.

"Daily movement between Istanbul and Gebze is too much"

Stating that there is a traffic density between Gebze and Istanbul, Büyükakın said, “Gebze is already the most crowded district of Kocaeli in terms of daily population, but it also has daily traffic. When we consider the traffic from Istanbul to this direction, from this direction to Istanbul, the daily movement is much more. In this sense, it was extremely essential to build the subway. The commissioning of the metro in 2023 will be extremely important for the future of Gebze ”.
