Italian Railway Operator Trenitalia will purchase 23 Frecciarossa 1000 very high-speed trains for the new Intermodalidad de Levante (Ilsa) service in Spain, a joint venture between the railway operating firm Trenitalia and Operador Ferroviario de Levante (OFL). Production will be carried out by Hitachi Rail and Bombardier Transportation companies in Italy. Signed contract 797 million euros worth of shares, Japanese Hitachi Rail (60%) and Canadian Bombardier (40%). Bombardier's share in this contract is 319 million Euros.

23 new trains for Ilsa will be designed by Hitachi Rail and Bombardier in Italy and manufactured in Italy. Each will be 200m long and have a capacity of approximately 460 passengers. This very high speed train will be operated at a speed of 360 km / h. The trains will be designed to have state-of-the-art aerodynamic and energy-saving technologies, together with Wi-Fi, bistro area and a high level of comfort in all classes.

What Will Change Bombardier's Acquisition by Alstom?

Under the conditions that the European Commission approves Alstom's purchase of Bombardier Transportation, Bombardier will transfer its contribution and license to the V300 Zefiro high-speed train to Hitachi.
