White Wagon Removed for Masjid

CHP İzmir Deputy Kani Beko claimed that the "White Wagon" used by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on his domestic trips was removed from Alsancak Station in order to open the way to the mosque in the region.

According to the report of Mehmet İnmez from Cumhuriyet;“The reaction continues to the removal of the“ White Wagon ”, which has been exhibited in front of Alsancak Station for 13 years and visited by students and citizens, by TCDD the previous night. TCDD, which announced that the wagon will move to the closed area before the lifting process, remained silent to the reactions, while the CHP's Kani Beko brought the lifting process to the agenda of the Parliament.

Beko gave a parliamentary question to be answered by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu. Beko said, "Why was the White Wagon not protected while countless artifacts can be protected in open space in the country?" said. Beko asked to revert the error.

Stating that they wanted to exhibit Atatürk's wagon in Konak Square, after Konak Mayor Abdül Batur, Çiğli Mayor Utku Gümrükçü announced that they wanted to protect the "White Wagon" in Çiğli.

CHP Izmir Provincial Chair Deniz Yücel said, "All our municipalities who claim and aspire to the White Wagon, which reminds us of the paths of our founding and liberation years, send a single message: Our historical memory cannot be erased with a midnight operation and hasty statements!" said.
