The first steam generators of the first power unit of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NGS) were installed at the Atommash plant, Volgodonsk branch of AEM Technology A.Ş., which is part of Rosatom's Atomenergomash machine building division.
Four steam generators, each weighing 355 tons, will go on a long voyage in the next few days. Steam generators, the first nuclear power plant in Akkuyu NPP construction site in Turkey's history to reach the sea, will make a trip exceeds 3 thousand km. Steam generators are considered the most important part of the reactor's first circuit. The nuclear power plant project includes four power units with 3+ generations of Russian VVER reactors. The capacity of each power unit will be 1200 MW. Akkuyu NGS is the first project in the world in the nuclear industry to be built according to the Build-Own-Operate model.
General Manager of Atomenergomash Inc. Andrey Nikipelov and Rostov Region Governor Vasiliy Golubev also attended this special event.

The equipment we manufacture is already operating or planned to be installed on three of six continents. In his speech, Rovshan Abbasov, Director of AEM Technology Volgodonsk Branch, said, “We have produced a reactor facility for Akkuyu NGS, which includes internal components and four steam generators. Until now, only Atommash has produced fully equipped equipment. Safety and quality are of primary importance to our company. In addition, special attention is paid to these issues. For example, it takes 1 and a half years to manufacture a steam generator, and one third of this time is devoted to quality issues ”.
The steam generator is a first class safety product. In the middle of the steam generator, the body of which consists of a horizontal cylindrical vessel with two elliptical bases, there are reactor cooler inlet and outlet collectors. There is a steam cavity at the top of the body and a heat exchange surface consisting of 11.000 stainless pipes at the bottom. Steam generator pipes with a diameter of 16 mm and a length of 11 to 17 meters can reach a length of 148,5 km if they are combined. The pipe ends are fixed in two collectors. The length of the steam generator is about 15 meters and its diameter exceeds 4 meters. The weight of the equipment reaches 355 tons in total.
The shipment of products from Atommash to the customer is carried out in a combined way. First, Tsimlyansk four steam generators that will be brought by road to the dam of the port will later be installed on a barge using a 4-ton bridge crane and will be sent to Turkey by sea.
