While the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services is implementing projects to ensure that disabled citizens take part in all areas of life; It also conducts separate studies for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, Minister of Family Labor and Social Services, stated that they have implemented many services and projects related to autism, which is a unique health problem, and that they have implemented important works with the Ministry of National Education (MEB) and YÖK.

Providing information about the studies carried out by the Ministry, Minister Selçuk said, “We serve individuals with autism in 124 Day Life Centers. "We increased the duration of use of our citizens with autism, who receive service 16 hours a week in these centers, to 40 hours." Minister Selçuk noted that individuals with autism were taken from their homes at a certain time at a certain time and met all services including the shuttle service to be delivered to their families at a certain time.

"We Provide Counseling Services to Families with the Autism Desk"

Sharing the work done with the provincial directorates, Minister Selçuk said, "We provide consultancy and information services to our families on the subjects they need at the Autism Desk established under our Provincial Directorates and Social Service Centers."

Financial Support for Every Disabled Employed in Protected Workplaces

Minister Selçuk noted that individuals with autism participate in employment in 9 protected workplaces established in Gaziantep, Konya, Manisa and Sakarya, and that they provide financial support for each disabled person employed in protected workplaces.

Special Course Programs for Individuals with Autism were Prepared

Referring to the work done in the field of education with the Ministry of National Education and YÖK, Minister Selçuk said, “In-service trainings were organized in order to carry out special education services more effectively and efficiently, and 81 trainers from 893 provinces were trained within this scope. Training in the field of autism spectrum disorder was provided to 250 guidance and special education teachers working at the Guidance and Research Centers. "206 course programs were prepared for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders."

"Programs for Training Early Childhood Educators Have Been Opened"

Noting that 38 vocational workshops in special education vocational schools were offered to students with mildly diagnosed autism spectrum disorder, Selçuk said, “Individuals with autism who are talented in various arts and sports branches have started to be evaluated with a separate aptitude test. 10% of the quota was reserved for disabled students, only for programs that accept students with a special talent exam. "The work has been initiated to open associate degree, undergraduate, master's and doctoral programs with / without thesis for the training of early childhood educators."
