Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is preparing to file another lawsuit against the zoning plans that allow the construction of the Go-Kart track in Güzelbahçe. The process ran like this from the beginning:

The Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization asked the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality for its opinion on the Go-Kart Training Track plans to be built on agricultural areas in the Yelki District of Güzelbahçe. The Metropolitan Municipality gave a negative opinion to the directorate about the relevant parcels that have been designated as agricultural land and registered as a natural site on the grounds that it is against the principles, plan decisions and plan notes of the 1/25 thousand scale Izmir Metropolitan Whole Environmental Plan, and it disrupts the plan integrity.

Contrary to Metropolitan's Olivelo project

The Metropolitan Municipality also reminded that the work for the Olivelo Olive-Bicycle Route Ecology Activity Training area project in the area covering the 1878-1879 parcels in Yelki Neighborhood gave the following statements: “The sport planned to be built very close to the project in which the natural structure is aimed to be protected and used. The engines of the training track will have negative effects on the integrity of the surrounding natural structure and the concept of the project in question. "

The plans approved by the ministry were sued

Despite the objections of the environmentalists living in Güzelbahçe, the district municipality and the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization has made a 1379,1380,1381/1383 scale conservation development for parcels 1384,1385, 1386, 1 and 5000 for outdoor sports. and the implementation development plan for protection with a scale of 1/1000 was approved. Objections to the plans were also rejected by the Ministry. Upon this, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality filed a lawsuit at the Izmir 2nd Administrative Court for the suspension of execution of the plans. Examining the objections of Metropolitan, the court rejected the request for a stay of execution. The case was brought to the Court of Appeal by the Metropolitan Municipality, but the Court of Appeal rejected the application of the Metropolitan Municipality.

The area was sealed as it is an agricultural area

The company wanted to work again in the area, which was sealed by the Güzelbahçe Municipality on the grounds that it was on the agricultural area, but the construction works started in 2018. The company, which was given permission to open a seal by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization on August 6, wanted to pour asphalt in the region. Environmentalists intervened and stopped their work. Güzelbahçe Municipality sealed the area again. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality announced that it will file another lawsuit against the plans.
