Izmir Metropolitan Municipality brought 52 new buses to the city. Domestic vehicles, which were included in the fleet of ESHOT General Directorate with an investment of approximately 49 million TL, were put into service with a ceremony. Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Soyer said that they buy midi buses to serve narrow streets and hilly districts, and that they will work day and night to provide a more comfortable transportation service to the back neighborhoods.
While Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues its rail system investments on the way to strengthen the integrated public transportation system, it also strengthens its bus fleet. Metropolitan Municipality, which put a total of 31 new and domestic buses into service within ESHOT and İZULAŞ in the last nine months, added 49 new buses to the fleet of the General Directorate of ESHOT with an investment of approximately 52 million TL.
We will keep our promise
The ceremony, in which a total of 10 buses and 17 midibuses, 27 of which are articulated and 25 solo, were put into service, was held in the Buca old marketplace. Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyeremphasized that a total of 83 new buses have been taken into service for the people of Izmir in the last nine months. Giving the good news that bus purchases will continue, Soyer said; “Of course, it will not be limited to these. We continue to work on adding 304 more buses to our fleet in the next few years. On the one hand, we continue to make new investments needed in every field, on the other hand, we strive to establish a healthy, reliable, inexpensive and environmentally friendly system in all our public transportation elements. Because we are a public municipality with a social and democratic management approach. One of our main goals is to increase the social, cultural and economic welfare in all parts of İzmir and to distribute this welfare to the whole city in a fair way. We will work day and night until I fulfill this promise to the letter.”
Domestic Production
Noting that the buses are Otokar branded domestic production, Mayor Soyer stated that they are proud to contribute to the country's economy. Mayor Soyer said, “Our buses that are put into service today are extremely comfortable, safe and suitable for disabled access. It is also environmentally friendly with its compliance with Euro 6 exhaust emission criteria. They will start serving on the lines needed. We took our Midi buses especially for narrow streets and hilly districts. With these vehicles, we aim to provide more comfortable public transportation services to the back neighborhoods, ”he said.
