In the environmental audits carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization in the 7 months of this year, a total of 2 million 798 thousand 129 TL was imposed on 401 thousand 768 facilities operating in violation of the Environmental Law, and the activities of 156 enterprises that cause environmental pollution were stopped.

The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization continues to inspect industrial facilities and other activities in order to prevent environmental pollution. According to the information obtained from the General Directorate of Environmental Impact Assessment, Permit and Inspection, 7 environmental inspections were conducted by the central organization of the Ministry and the Provincial Directorates of Environment and Urbanization in 17 months of this year. As a result of these inspections, an administrative fine of 746 million 2 thousand 798 Turkish lira was imposed on 129 thousand 401 facilities that operated in violation of the Environmental Law. In addition, the activities of 768 businesses that cause environmental pollution were stopped.

THE MOST AUDIT IS MADE IN ANKARA

In the 2020-month period of 7, the Ministry carried out the most audits in the capital with 1406 environmental audits.

Ankara was followed by İzmir with 1354 inspections, İstanbul with 1249 inspections, Kocaeli with 958 inspections and Tekirdağ with 731 environmental inspections.

THE MOST PENALTIES IN ISTANBUL

In the January-July period, the city with the highest number of sentences was Istanbul. As a result of the environmental audits carried out by the Ministry, 37 million 91 thousand 477 Turkish liras were imposed on facilities in Istanbul that violate the Environment Law.

During the inspections, the amount of fines imposed in Ankara was 19 million 333 thousand 918 TL, 15 million 373 thousand 129 TL in Sakarya, 5 million 211 thousand 947 TL in İzmir and 4 million 732 thousand 731 TL in Tekirdağ.
