The Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services will provide grant support to underground coal and metal mining businesses for 24 months in order to improve occupational health and safety conditions under the EU Project.

Family, conducted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Services and starting on November 21, 2019 "Development of the Mining Sector in Occupational Health and Safety" under the operation, health, aiming the creation of decent jobs for the labor force Turkey to the development of security and peace at work. Approximately 17,5 million euros project is being financed by the EU and the Republic of Turkey.

The project in question includes a technical assistance, financial support and guidance program and a grant program. The project, which aims to support improved working conditions based on proactive approach in the mining sector, and to increase social awareness, envisages further improvement of working conditions by improving the knowledge levels of all stakeholders. Within the scope of the project, it is aimed to reach 36 percent of the people working in the underground coal and metal mining sector by preparing awareness of the other layers of the society along with qualified trainings such as occupational health and safety, search and rescue.

Financial Support to Underground Coal and Metal Mine Workplaces

In addition to the assignment of an OHS professional in underground coal and metal mining workplaces that meet the necessary conditions throughout the project, financial support will be provided for the rescue training and the integration of the TSE standard prepared specifically for the mining industry. Some of the precautions to be taken according to the legislation are as follows: Following the toxic and explosive gases underground according to the characteristics of the ore underground, control drilling against flooding, providing two independent entrance and exit at the entrance of the quarry, establishing a mechanical ventilation system.
