Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank visited the casting factory producing brake systems of high speed trains (YHT) as part of the Kocaeli program. Varank reported that 40 cents of raw material per kilogram was converted into a $ 7 product and exported to over 40 countries at the facility.
Minister Varank made factory visits in İMES Machinery Specialized Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) in Dilovası district of Kocaeli.
Varank also visited the factory of Silvan Sanayi AŞ, which produces and exports heat and wear-resistant, alloy high-strength steel castings, and made examinations here. Wearing apron and wearing protective equipment, Varank took the hand grinder and took the lead with the workers.
Stating that YHT brake discs are produced at the facility, Varank said, “More than 90 percent of the production here is exported abroad. This is a job that requires qualified casting. The YHT train brake discs here are exported to all European countries, China and Japan. ” said.

The new facility has an annual shipping capacity of 6 thousand tons, and exports worth 35 million dollars. It is aimed that these figures will be higher with the factory working at full capacity.
SCRAP HAIR TO THE FINAL PRODUCT WITH ADDED VALUE
The raw material is obtained by adding the necessary alloys to the scrap metal left over from the automotive sector. YHT brake discs and other products, which are created with added value thanks to the ability of the company in steel casting technology, with the support of the company from TÜBİTAK, are marketed to more than 40 countries of the world.
