Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğluparticipated in the “TBM Excavation Completion Ceremony” of Ataköy-İkitelli Metro, which will be integrated with 4 different metro and metrobus lines operating in the city.

Imamoglu stressed that since the day they took office, they have focused on restarting the metro lines stopped by the previous administration. Reminding that they have made 8 lines operational so far, Imamoglu shared financial and technical information on the subject sites. Stating that he is excited about every metro work, İmamoğlu said, “Because the most valuable value of a modern city about transportation is the metro. Besides, it is a must for a city of 16 million. In this sense, we care very very much. ”
“BETWEEN IKITELLI-ATAKOY TO 23 MINUTES”
İmamoğlu also shared the following information about the İkitelli-Ataköy Metro Line: “In some regions that were problematic in March 2019, construction works stopped due to ground problems. Technical problems were solved and construction works were accelerated since July. A total of 4 TBMs worked along the line. 2 TBM passing under dense settlements, Çobançeşme-Kuyumcukent Station - Halkalı The main line tunnel excavation between Caddesi Station was also completed. The construction of the 13,5 km long 11-station line has been completed by 61 percent as of today. We want to make partial openings so that Istanbul can use the metro at certain points as soon as possible. After this line, we aim to open the line between İkitelli Industrial Station and Bahariye Station in the first quarter of 2021, after electromechanical works. In the first quarter of 2022, the entire project will be commissioned and will be connected with Marmaray, 4 different rail systems currently operating in İkitelli region. When the entire metro is put into service, it will carry 72 thousand passengers in two directions per hour. The line passing through Bakırköy, Bahçelievler, Küçükçekmece, Bağcılar, Başakşehir districts and between İkitelli-Ataköy will decrease to 23 minutes. With all these investments, we will increase the share of the rail system in public transportation from 20,5 percent to 30 percent in the first place. This is very precious for Istanbul. ”
“TENDER; NO PROJECT! ”
Underlining that they detected very serious financing problems and technical problems in rail systems when they took office, İmamoğlu said, “When the search for foreign loans for our subways yields positive results, we speed up the works as much as possible. Our efforts in rail systems are not limited to these 8 lines. We have other rail system needs in the future of Istanbul. For example, Beylikdüzü and Esenyurt are very neglected. We attach great importance to this issue. For; Nearly 2,5 million people in that area do not currently have metro connections. One in six of Istanbul lives in this region; unfortunately, a step has not been taken in rail systems. İncirli-Beylikdüzü Metro project has been on the shelf for years. The part I witnessed is 6 years. Similarly, we have a line from Mahmutbey, which concerns the west of Istanbul, to Esenyurt; We are working to combine this place with the Beylikdüzü subway. It was also tendered; but unfortunately he has no project. It is not understandable, We are working on it now. Our efforts are continuing to put all these lines into operation in the fastest way with the most accurate financing model. Unfortunately, all these lines come into operation, it takes 1-17 years. Tunnels, underground stations need these times. ”
After the speech of İmamoğlu, who thanked every person, institution and organization who contributed to the construction of the line, the TBMs numbered S1028 and S1029 carried out the last drilling operations.
