The 'Istanbul Tsunami Information Booklets' study, prepared with the cooperation of IMM and METU, has been completed. With the study, separate reports were prepared for all districts of Istanbul that would be affected by the tsunami, and measures were taken to minimize possible losses.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality conducted a study on possible tsunami scenarios and action plans in the city under threat of earthquakes. In the first phase of the study, which was realized in cooperation with IMM and Middle East Technical University (METU), “Istanbul Marmara Coasts Tsunami Modeling, Vulnerability and Hazard Analysis Update Project” was completed in 2018, and the tsunami effects of the city's seaside districts were investigated extensively. In the second stage of the study, the 'Istanbul Tsunami Action Plan (2019)' was introduced. With this study, actions were taken to minimize possible losses for each district, based on the risk factors identified.
