The Alataw pass, located in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in northwestern China, witnessed a significant increase in the entry and exit of Sino-European freight trains, according to the Urumqi news of the Xinhua news Agency.
Within five months, a total of 1.664 Sino-European cargo trains passed through Alataw pass, an important railway junction and stop of Xinjiang. This number represents an increase of 39,5 percent compared to the previous year, according to Alataw customs officials.
The volume of imported and exported goods carried by China-Europe freight trains through Alataw increased by 8,8 percent in five months from January to May, reaching a weight of 10,55 million tons. On the other hand, the procedures at the customs gates were facilitated by simplifying the legislation, and the normal functioning of the Sino-European railway connection in the context of the prevention and control of coronavirus outbreak was achieved.
