According to the latest news, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu pushed the button to speed up the tender process in Kanal Istanbul, while negotiations with the municipalities of Arnavutköy and Başakşehir have reached the final stage for the cities to be established on both sides of the channel.

According to the latest news, development plans are expected to be suspended in July. It was stated that the Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu, who was learned from the time he took over the duty from the former minister Cahit Turhan, had been working intensely on Kanal Istanbul, was in preparation with the relevant units to be held in the second half of the tender this year.

COMPLETING PLANS

According to the news of Eray Görgülü from Hürriyet, it was learned that the General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments prepared the tender documents for the construction works of the 45 km long 275 meter wide channel, and the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization also completed the 1/100 thousand scale development plan. It has reached the final stage in the thousand-year development plans.

On the other hand, for the smart cities to be established on both sides of the channel, the last details were reached in the negotiations regarding the allocation of places started with Arnavutköy and Başakşehir municipalities in some areas. Following these negotiations, while the development plans are expected to be suspended in July, the entire process and authority in the construction of the channel will be transferred to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure after the objections are concluded. The process related to the peripheral roads will start before the construction of the channel and this preparation will take approximately 1.5 years. While the duration of the total canal construction is expected to exceed 5 years, the completion time of the project is planned as 7 years.
