İzmir's hygiene standard practice is being implemented. Following the global epidemic, the Orange Circle certificate is beginning to be implemented in order for the tourism activities in the city to continue in a healthy manner.
The Izmir Tourism Hygiene Board, coordinated by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, started the Orange Circle practice in order to continue the tourism activities in the city in a healthy way after the global pandemic. The hygiene standards set by the Tourism Hygiene Board will be applied in the municipal licensed accommodation and catering facilities in İzmir, and businesses with these standards will be awarded with the Orange Circle certificate.
The Orange Circle certificate will be given to businesses that meet the criteria set by the Izmir Tourism Hygiene Board and have successfully completed the inspections within the framework of the relevant legislation. The Orange Circle is also a prerequisite for businesses to apply for the Selluka award. Aiming to make İzmir a hygienic and reliable tourism destination, the Orange Circle certificate aims to facilitate the compliance of the businesses in Izmir with the normalization process and to contribute to the tourism sector of İzmir by promoting the companies with the Orange Circle at domestic and international platforms.
How to apply
Businesses that want to receive the Orange Circle certificate must submit their requests to Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and district municipalities either by hand or online. Businesses that will undergo evaluation will be entitled to receive the Orange Circle certificate if they meet their hygiene criteria.
Minimum score of 100 out of 75 in food and beverage facilities
Orange Circle hygiene criteria will be given in two categories as food and beverage facilities and accommodation facilities. Enterprises with a minimum score of 100 out of 75 in the category of food and beverage and a minimum of 200 out of 150 in the category of accommodation facilities will be entitled to receive the Orange Circle. In the category of food and beverage facilities, there are 52 criteria such as whether bread is served as packaged, whether the water is served in closed bottles, whether air conditioning filters are regularly cleaned by the authorized company. In the category of accommodation facilities, there are 101 criteria such as whether the hotel has protective equipment such as gloves, mask, disinfectant, and whether the body temperature of the guests is measured at the entrance to the hotel.

What is Tourism Hygiene Board?
İzmir Tourism Hygiene Board was created in order to determine the hygiene and safety criteria to be applied in the municipality's accommodation and catering establishments so that tourism activities can continue during the normalization process. The Board continues its activities under the coordination of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Izmir Foundation.
