Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli stated that they reduced the first response time to the forest fire from 40 minutes to 12 minutes thanks to the measures taken and the technological infrastructure, and said that the 2023 targets were to reduce this period to 10 minutes.
Minister Pakdemirli will explain the activities they will do within the scope of combating forest fires in 2020, and will introduce the tools and equipment to be used in fires at a press conference in Izmir tomorrow.
Making a statement on the subject, Minister Pakdemirli stated that they are working as a forest organization with their strength against fires, and 88 percent of forest fires are of human origin and therefore the most important task falls to the citizens.
Expressing that they carried out the fight against forest fires with 3 strategies: “prevention”, “extinguishing” and “rehabilitation”, Pakdemirli stated that they responded to the forest fires that were received or detected with the first response team deployed at 1.140 points as soon as possible.

Stating that necessary measures were taken to respond to forest fires earlier and more effectively in 2020, Pakdemirli said:
“In this context, 1.072 plotters, 281 water tankers, 586 first response vehicles, 185 dozers, 473 other vehicle-work machines, and a total of 2.597 vehicles and 10.545 fire workers and 3.000 technical personnel in the ground crews, 5.000 personnel, including 18.545 forest conservation officers, will work.
In the air, besides 6 administrative helicopters, 27 fire fighting helicopters and 2 10-ton amphibious aircraft will serve. Approximately 8 thousand vehicles used in forest fire organization will be monitored instantly with vehicle tracking system and intervention to forest fires.
In addition, 1 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) was hired to evaluate the images of the fire and the fire during the technological evaluation and to respond to forest fires early, effectively and most economically. This vehicle will serve for 1 days from July 28 to September 90. TRAINING FOR 14 COUNTRIES, AIRPLANE AND HELICOPTER SUPPORT GIVEN TO 10 COUNTRIES
Stating that the fire teams described as fire fighters were prepared for the fire season with training and drills throughout the year, Minister Pakdemirli said, “In this framework, 11.545 fire workers, 3 technical personnel and 5 forest conservation officers were given on-the-job training. Also this year, fire training was given to 11 citizens who applied to become voluntary fire extinguishers. ”
Minister Pakdemirli, on the other hand, added that they provided training to 14 technical personnel from 226 countries in the Antalya International Forestry Training Center and helped 10 different fires in 34 different countries with planes and helicopters.
