TCDD Deputy General Manager Metin Akbaş and his accompanying delegation made examinations in the workplaces affiliated to the 6th Regional Directorate of TCDD.

Deputy General Manager Akbaş received a briefing on investments and operations at Adana Regional Directorate.

Located in Garden Nurdağı variant project, which is Turkey's longest railway tunnel is currently under construction and viewed the ongoing construction site.

Akbaş, who received information about the studies after the examinations, evaluated the benefits of the project for rail transport. He pointed out that the tunnel and variant will increase the current line capacity to four times, thus increasing the rail transport share. He also said that as a result of the shortening of the distance on the existing route, the cruise time between the two stations will decrease from 60 minutes to 10 minutes. He underlined that by making this line electrified, the environmental friendliness of the trains will come to the fore and will contribute to the protection of the environment.

After the Garden Nurdağı project, the Assistant General Manager, who also examined the completed infrastructure works of the Akçagöze - Başpınar Variant project, received information about the latest status of the construction works.

Stating that Akçagöze - Başpınar Variant is an important railway infrastructure project, Akbaş stated that once this project is completed, the existing route will decrease from 27 kilometers to 11 kilometers, and as a result of infrastructure improvement, the speed of operation of trains will increase from 60 kilometers to 160 kilometers, and a fast and comfortable journey will be possible.
