The Syrian regime has transformed the historical site of the Hejaz Train Station, built in the late 19th century in the center of Damascus during the Ottoman period, to an unnamed private company for 45 years into a tourist hotel and commercial activities.

Official sources affiliated with the Syrian regime confirmed that it rented a historic train station in the capital Damascus.

In details, Hassanein Muhammed Ali, the general manager of the Hejaz railway line with the Assad regime, announced that the 45-year building of the Hejaz train station in the center of the capital was leased to a private company for 45 years without revealing its name.

"The project was awarded to a private company with an annual appropriation of 1.6 billion Syrian pounds, and the investment period is 45 years, after which the entire project will belong to Railways Corporation."

According to the sources, the station will be transformed into a hotel under the name of "Nirvana Complex" with an area of 40 square meters, with a commercial complex, restaurants and multi-purpose halls at a cost of $ 5100 million.

Sources believe that the company investing in the project will be Russian, for this reason researcher leading Ömer Al-Bunna Arabi 21 newspaper in Syrian antiquities: The Syrian regime was a part of the project to sell the old Damascus, the station was a symbol of the city of Damascus and The regime continues to sell these symbols for questionable investments. ”

"Today the regime sells Damascus's memory to dubious companies and doesn't care about the memory and history of Damascus's sons." said.

What is surprising is the Antiquities Directorate's silence in these agreements.

Who owns the property?

According to legal sources, the ownership of the station belongs to the general Islamic Foundation, where the Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II wanted to involve all Muslims in the construction of the Hejaz railway, the railway and station construction costs were collected from the contributions of all life Muslims from India to Morocco. .

Munther Muhammad, a financial inspector from the regime, stated that Syrian law prohibits the sale of funds associated with the Ministry of Foundations, and stated that the station is owned by the Syrian "Ministry of Foundations".

Instead of staying in power, the regime is ready to sell all of Syria, referring to the almost collapsed economic situation of the Syrian regime, said: "In the near future we can see more of these deals, because the regime is ready to sell all of Syria to remain in power."

The Hejaz railway connects Damascus to Medina and Sultan II. It was founded during the reign of Abdülhamid and started to work in 1900 and continued to work until 1916, when it was destroyed during the First World War and the Great Arab Revolution.

The Hejaz Railway Project, which was started between Damascus and Der'a with an official ceremony held on September 1, 1900 and meant the realization of a big dream, and the construction of the project was given to the Germans by the Ottoman Empire.
