Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank noted that test laboratories have been set up to serve the industry in Kocaeli and Ankara, saying, “We are starting antibody tests in industry. In our 13 provinces; Antibody tests will be conducted in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Kocaeli, Konya, Tekirdag, Adana, Sakarya, Gaziantep, Manisa, Eskisehir, Bursa and Kayseri. ” said.
Minister Varank attended Kocaeli Chamber of Industry Assembly Meeting via video conference method. Varank said that the world was going through a difficult test due to the Covid-19 (new type coronavirus) epidemic, adding:
PERMANENT RECOVERY: As we enter new norm, we need a permanent and steady recovery in the real sector. We closely follow the progress in the industry and regularly monitor the leading indicators of production. April not only for Turkey, it was a very difficult period for the whole world. Countries almost completely closed, trade stopped, demand cut.
REVIVAL SPEED WAS: Therefore, the decrease in industrial production was within our expectations. Since May, the economy started to give bottom turn signals. The recovery in the real sector gained pace in June.
ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION: I want to share a very up-to-date statistics in terms of showing the recovery rate of the economy. In the first two weeks of this month, electricity consumption in the industry has already surpassed April and May. In the first half of June, electricity consumption in OIZs increased by 31 percent compared to May.
A breathtaking new economy: Leading industries such as automotive, textile and furniture are resurgent. Confidence in the economy is increasing. In the first 5 months of this year, 5 enterprises were registered in the industrial registry. In other words, 547 enterprises entered the real sector as new players in the first five months of this year, bringing a new breath to the economy.
520 NEW FACTORIES HAVE BEEN PRODUCED: Only in our organized industrial zones, 5 new factories started production in the first 520 months. Despite the pandemic conditions, the investment demand is stronger than last year.
67 BILLION LIRAL INCENTIVES: In the January-May period, we issued an investment incentive certificate of 67 billion liras. When these investments are realized, new job opportunities will be created for 110 thousand citizens. Our main goal is to put this trend in a continuous structure.
STRONG GROWTH: Although it depends on the course of the epidemic in the world; We expect the economic recovery in our country to accelerate further and to reach strong growth rates in the last two quarters of the year. Of course, in this period, there are concrete steps we have taken to avoid a second wave of epidemic and to maximize the job security in the real sector.
ANTIBODY TESTS: Together with our Ministry of Health, we established test laboratories to serve the industry in Kocaeli and Ankara. We did regular PCR tests. Now we are starting antibody tests in the industry. Antibody tests will be performed in 13 provinces (in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Kocaeli, Konya, Tekirdag, Adana, Sakarya, Gaziantep, Manisa, Eskisehir, Bursa and Kayseri).
COVID-19 MEASURES: Tests started in Konya and Bursa as of yesterday. Let me give you the good news. Antibody, ie immune tests, are starting today in Kocaeli. Of course, another issue as important as these tests; measures you will take in your workplaces.

16 MILLION LIRA PROJECT: We will establish the Applied Advanced Engineering Center of Excellence in IMES OSB with the support of our Development Agency. 16 million liras of this 10 million lira project will be financed by our agency. I plan to come to Kocaeli to lay the foundation of the project in August. With the realization of this center; 2 thousand people will be trained annually to train the skilled labor force needed by the industry. The innovative product development capacity of companies will be increased, and consultancy support will be provided to companies on lean production and efficiency issues.
