Renovation Work Continues at the Grand Istanbul Bus Station

IMM continues to turn the mobility across the city into service due to curfew restrictions. Maintenance, repair and renewal works were initiated at the Greater Istanbul Bus Terminal, which has been neglected since the last quarter of a century. Within the scope of the works, the infrastructure of the bus station, from asphalt to rainwater channels, will be overhauled. A total of 55 thousand tons of asphalt pavement and 35 thousand square meters of pavement renovation will be made.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) added a new one to the renovation works it carried out at the Grand Istanbul Bus Terminal, the gate of the city that opens out on the highway. Due to the measures taken within the scope of the fight against coronavirus, the giant facility, where the mobility has dropped considerably, works on asphalt pavement, pavement defeat, repair and renewal of rainwater channels. The bus station, which has been neglected since the quarter-century, has been overhauled.

150 THOUSAND SQUARE METERS DEFECTIVE ASPHALT WILL BE GAINED

In the study carried out by the IMM Road Maintenance and Infrastructure Coordination Department, 150 thousand square meters of damaged asphalt will be scraped and 55 thousand tons of new paving will be made. Asphalt paving work will be carried out on all floors of the bus terminal and on the entrance-exit connecting arms. Again, within the scope of the project, a 35 thousand square meter trench will be renewed. The physical standards of vehicles and pedestrian roads at the bus station will be increased. This image that does not suit Istanbul's image of a world city will be eliminated.

3 THOUSAND METER RAINWATER DUCT WILL BE CLEANED

On the other hand, IMM also handled rainwater channels that could not perform their functions properly due to pollution and wear. Within the scope of the works, rainwater channels of 3 thousand meters in length and various diameters will be cleaned. Maintenance and repair work will be carried out where necessary.
