Minister Tunç Soyer, said that the local tourism hygiene standards that will come into effect in İzmir and all its districts in the coming days are a first in Turkey and they have already taken all the measures to make İzmir a healthy and hygienic tourism region.
Setting Standards
Mayor Soyer met with relevant institutions, industry stakeholders and academicians yesterday at the Izmir Tourism Hygiene Board meeting in the Historical Gas Gas Factory. Twenty-person delegation, and municipalities worldwide in Izmir individually evaluating the criteria set forth in the national standards to be applied in Turkey has allowed the company to evaluate. In the meeting where the five-person executive board was determined, it was decided to complete the technical framework related to the criteria within one week. After this process, the application phase will be started. The Board decided to integrate all the criteria with the national standards set by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the “Selluka” certification system previously determined for the historical Izmir region.

Stating that it is foreseen that life will begin to normalize in the coming days, President Soyer stated that they discussed what they can do in the tourism sector during the normalization process in the hygiene committee, which also includes representatives of the tourism sector. President Soyer said: “What will make Izmir stand out is how we apply our hygiene criteria. We will start implementing the Selluka application, which was implemented in our city before, and the hygiene criteria of our Ministry of Culture and Tourism as a whole. Quality, security and cleanliness criteria will be applied in municipal licensed restaurants, cafeterias, food products enterprises. Thanks to this project, we will proceed quickly to return to the new normal ”.

Speaking at the meeting, Aegean Touristic Enterprises and Accommodations Union President (ETIK) Mehmet İşler stated that Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is the only one in Turkey, and started to work on this issue and said, “After your predictions, we started to work as a sector.
