In the four-day curfew within the scope of coronavirus measures, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality completed the maintenance, repair and asphalting works of the urban roads with full capacity. 12 thousand tons of asphalt pavement was made in four days. Improvement works continued in transportation systems and channel infrastructure.

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality turned the four-day curfew into an opportunity and carried out maintenance and repair works on the roads and sidewalks of the city at full capacity. Due to the decrease in vehicle traffic on the streets, Metropolitan Municipality teams accelerated their asphalt works. İZBETON teams, which performed the maintenance, repair and asphalt paving works of many critical points in a short time, made 4 thousand tons of asphalt pavement in 12 days. One of the most frequently used transportation axes in İzmir Karşıyaka Anadolu Caddesi and Konak Mürselpaşa Boulevard witnessed intensive work. A total of 10 thousand tons of asphalt pavement was made in this region. In the coming days, 20 thousand tons of asphalt will be laid on Anadolu Street, and 13 thousand tons of asphalt on Mürselpaşa Boulevard and Yeşildere Avenue. The teams, which accelerated their work in Urla and Dikili, also applied more than 500 tons of asphalt pavement at these points during the limited period. The teams, which are provided with hygiene and protection materials, will continue to renew İzmir's roads within the program by working in accordance with the physical distance rules during the corona days.

Instant Response to 4 Failures in 180 Days

The General Directorate of İZSU, which made great efforts to maintain the drinking water service without interruption during the coronavirus process, also served on the field with 3 personnel for four days. In order to avoid disruption of the services, a total of 500 failures, 165 branches and 15 main pipes, were intervened, and 180 channels were maintained and repaired.

Transportation and maintenance were done

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality continued disinfection against viruses and bacteria as well as routine cleaning activities in metro, tram and buses in transportation. In this process, maintenance and repair works on metro and tram lines were completed. Technical maintenance and repair was also carried out on the Bergama Ferry, one of the symbols of the city, which was put into service in 1951.
