The agreement for the Turkish Naval Command, which includes the supply of 6 ATR-72-600 Marine Surveillance Capable Naval Patrol Airplanes and 2 General Purpose Aircraft, was signed between the Defense Industry Presidency (SSB) and the Italian company Alenia Aermacchi (Leonardo). .

Within the scope of the project, it was decided to become the main contractor of Alenia Aermacchi, and the Turkish Aviation and Space Industry (TUSAŞ) to become a subcontractor. In this context, based on the agreement signed between Italian Alenia Aermacchi SpA and TUSAŞ in July 2012, structural and electrical refurbishment, system tests and Integrated Logistic Support activities of 6 ATR-72-600 Maritime Patrol Aircraft to be procured are carried out by TUSAŞ.

Two ATR-701-702 General Purpose Aircraft, TCB-2 and TCB-72 queue number, to be supplied under the MELTEM-III Project, were delivered to the Naval Forces Command between July 600 and August 2013. The Performance Based Logistics service of the aircraft was started on 2013 July 29.

Within the framework of the MELTEM-III Project, the first ATR-72-600 aircraft, which will be converted into the "Maritime Patrol Aircraft" configuration, was transferred to TUSAŞ facilities on April 19, 2013. The delivery of the first ATR-2017-72 Naval Patrol Aircraft to the Turkish Navy was planned in 600, but the project has dropped somewhat due to difficulties in certification activities.

Within the scope of the MELTEM-III Project, the first ATR-751-72 Naval Patrol Aircraft with the tail number TCB-600, which will be delivered to the Turkish Naval Command, arrived in TUSAŞ facilities in April 2020 for the final tests. It is expected that the delivery of the aircraft will take place in a short time.

ATR-72-600 Naval Patrol Planes will use the Mk-46 Mod 5 and Mk-54 Torpedoes as part of the submarine defense war (DSH) mission.
