Public transport in Amsterdam is provided by buses and trams. There are four metro lines in the city, and the fifth line is under construction (but construction is slow to avoid damaging the natural fabric of the city). In addition, many streets and streets were closed to vehicle traffic.

Amsterdam is a bike-friendly city. It is a center where “bicycle culture” develops with bicycle roads and bicycle parking areas in the city. It is estimated that there are 1 million bicycles in the city. However, bicycle theft is very common. That's why bike owners tend to protect their bikes against thieves with big locks. It is not preferred to drive in the city. Because parking fees are very high.

City channels are now mostly used for boat rides, not for cargo or passenger transportation. The canals of the city are toured by the 40-50 seater boats departing from Amsterdam main train station and other parts of the city. Apart from this, private boats and 4-pedal boats ("water bikes") are also used for canal tours.

The Badhoevedorp Junction, located near Amsterdam, has been the main hub of highways in the Netherlands since 1932. Amsterdam Airport (Amsterdam Airport Schiphol) is about 15-20 minutes by train from Amsterdam Main Train Station (NS Amsterdam Centraal Station). This largest airport in the Netherlands ranks fourth in Europe and tenth in the world. It is the third most crowded airport in the world, with 44 million people a year. Although its name is called Amsterdam Airport, it is not actually within the borders of Amsterdam, but within the borders of the Municipality of Haarlemermeer.
