According to the news of Uğur Akagündüz from SÖZCÜ; “While the intense dust formation caused by the trucks working in the project construction, which is expected to last 4 years, affects the agricultural areas in the region; It was stated that it could harm agricultural production as well as human and environmental health. While it was announced that the negativities that occurred in the agricultural areas due to the project construction were conveyed to the Edirne Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Directorate and the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization; CHP Edirne Deputy Assoc. Dr. Okan Gaytancıoğlu, Thrace Platform sözcüSü Göksal Çidem and Edirne City Council Executive Board Chairman Ziya Gökerkük made statements about the impact of the project construction on agricultural lands. Çidem stated in his statement the complaints of the regional producer arising from the project construction and Gökerkük stated the impact of the project construction on the agricultural areas in the region; Gaytancıoğlu said that the damage that will occur in agricultural areas should be met.

The situation is very bad and action needs to be taken urgently. If there is a loss, the manufacturer must be compensated. Urgent measures should be taken for the sustainability of agricultural production. Even if the measures are not taken, the producers will take legal action ”.

Edirne City Council Executive Board Chairman Ziya GökerkÜK, on the other hand, said that the heavy dust formation caused by truck traffic in the project construction caused the agricultural areas to be covered with dust; “The dust generated will negatively affect yield and quality in agricultural production. In this case, dust emissions due to the severity of the dominant winds are carried to the agricultural areas in the east-west direction. "It will make photosynthesis difficult by blocking the organs of the plants grown in the region, which is an absolute agricultural area, like leaf palm," he said.

Pointing out that dust emission may prevent the plant from reproducing and reproducing as a result of accumulation in the leaves, roots and stems of plants; “In this case, it will gradually affect plant growth and yield. If no precautions are taken, the agricultural production will be damaged and the people of this region will be affected by this situation and will pose a threat in terms of human-environmental health and existence. It is clear that the producer will lose revenue as a result of this activity. On the other hand, while Gaytancıoğlu stated that the project should not be harmed in the period of its realization; “We need high-speed trains to transport and reach the world, but nature is also required. One should not damage the vegetation in nature. The importance of agriculture, plants, food and the environment has increased even more especially in these days when there is a corona virus. So we have to think about the future. Everyone should learn the term sustainable development. They can make money, but they should not harm the environment while making money. I invite everyone to common sense in this matter. He says that the transactions will be completed as soon as possible, but the wheat harvest will begin in the region. Despite this, the farmer does not have any work to meet the yield loss ”.
“The Firm Should Cover the Loss”
Gaytancıoğlu said that Turkey is the operation of the law of one of the biggest problems today; “There is the law of the superiors, not the rule of law. They increased the rent even more in the days of the corona virus. Nobody can react, there are age limits and travel restrictions between cities. They say, 'Nobody reacts anyway, let's do as much as we can.' These need to be public, but also the environment. Agricultural production should be made not only for us but also for future generations. In the future, water and food will become even more important. Therefore, we should not consume resources. For this reason, we demand that the contractor company compensate for the damage that will occur in agricultural fields. ”
