Chairman of the Board of Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, A. Akgün Altuğ, made the assessment on the subject that the Karasu Railway Project, which is on the agenda recently, will be completed in 2021.
President Altuğ stated that the completion of the Karasu Railway Project in 2021 will add value to the logistics position of Sakarya, according to the survey project prepared by the General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments.
“As a city, we have been waiting for the completion of the Karasu Railway for many years. Because the locomotive of the economy is to be strong in logistics.
The completion of the railway next year after Karasu Port, which started operating 2 years ago, will both provide great added value to the provincial economy and affect our export figures positively. In this respect, we look forward to the completion of the railway.
The railway, starting from Arifiye and extending to Karasu, will provide great convenience to the business world. I believe that we will compensate for the time and gain we have lost in the short term by the railroad, which has not been completed with various troubles for years.
The Arifiye-Karasu-Akçakoca-Ereğli- Bartın Train will connect the Western Black Sea ports to the inner and western Anatolia. As it is a freight-carrying project, it will also affect the economic, social and cultural structure of a wide geography.
With the meeting of Karasu Port and the railway, Sakarya will have a say in international trade in terms of a logistics base by reaching out from the rails to open waters.
