Izmir Metropolitan Municipality supervised buses and minibuses in the intercity bus station against the new coronavirus outbreak. The Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a circular to combat the outbreak, banning more than 50 percent of the capacities of urban and intercity public transportation vehicles.

Hygiene control is also done

The teams affiliated to the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Police Department have created checkpoints at the intercity bus terminal. All buses and minibuses entering and leaving the terminal were inspected at these points. Along with controlling the number of passengers within the scope of the inspections, the drivers and vehicle owners were also informed in the context of the fight against the epidemic.

In the controls, police teams check the hygiene conditions of the vehicles, the safe social distance and whether more than half of the passenger carrying capacity specified in the license is carried. Administrative sanctions are applied to the drivers and vehicle owners who do not comply with the rules within the scope of the related articles of the Law No. 5326 on Misdemeanors and the Regulation on Municipal Orders and Prohibitions.
