Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Council made important decisions to accelerate the investments that stood at the second meeting of March meetings. The decision taken unanimously by the council members; It is approved to receive 188 million 325 thousand euros for use in the Dudullu-Bostancı Metro Construction, 98 million 632 thousand euros for use in the Eminönü-Alibeyköy Tram Line, and 150 million euros in low interest long-term foreign loans for the construction of the IMM Waste Incineration and Energy Generation Facility. .

IMM Assembly CHP Group SözcüSü Tarık Balyalı stated that the decision was very important for the long-standing investments to accelerate and thanked the AK Party, IYI Party and MHP groups, who voted positively.

IMM plans to open the Dudullu-Bostancı Line, which has been under construction for the last 2,5 years and is an important investment in terms of integrating 2 metro lines of the European Side, by the end of 2021.

Eminönü-Alibeyköy Tram draws attention as a line to connect the Eminönü district, Eyüpsultan, which is an important route in terms of religious tourism, and Alibeyköy Pocket Bus Terminal. It is aimed that the technical problems such as the Unkapanı pass will be resolved quickly and the tram will be trained at the end of this year.

The length of the rail system in Istanbul will reach 19 kilometers with the Mecidiyeköy - Mahmutbey Metro, which will open on May 260, and Eminönü –Alibeyköy Tram, where work is accelerated to reach the end of the year.

Europe's largest “Waste Incineration and Energy Production Facility”, which İBB started to build in Eyüp Işıklar Mahallesi in 2017, is a major environmental investment. In the facility with a total area of 8 hectares, 1 million tons of waste will be disposed annually and 624 million kilowatt hours of electricity will be produced.

With the new facility coming into operation, electricity generation from garbage will increase approximately 2,5 times. Thus, energy equivalent to the daily electricity needs of approximately 3 million people will be obtained from the garbage of Istanbul. Thanks to the garbage to be disposed at the facilities, 2 million tons of carbon emission per year will be prevented. This number; The size of 3 thousand 500 football fields corresponds to the amount of carbon that 1 million trees will hold in nature during their lifetime.

Stating that they prioritize environmental investments, İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu He also examined many environmental investments of IMM on the spot and said, “Waste is our national issue”.
