It has been reported that people over 65 years old in Konya have stopped using public transportation for free. Practice was a first in Turkey.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality intensified its disinfection activities and information activities in order to combat the corona virus and other epidemics that affect the world. While disinfection works are carried out in buses, trams, bus stations, mosques, municipal facilities and schools in 28 districts used by tens of thousands of people every day; Brochures are distributed in public transport and schools to inform citizens.

Free Public Transportation of 65+ Citizens Has Stopped

Konya Metropolitan Municipality has taken a new decision to keep citizens over the age of 65 at home in the risky age group in corona virus. AKP Municipality announced that they have temporarily stopped citizens over the age of 65 to benefit from public transportation free of charge.

The municipality announced the following in the announcement regarding the issue: “Within the scope of the Corona virus measures, the use of free public transportation for our citizens over the age of 65 has been temporarily stopped for precautionary purposes”.
