The railway transportation, which started in 1866 in our country, has been carried out for many years by vehicles that are all imported and whose maintenance and repairs are carried out in an externally dependent manner.

This situation has constantly caused problems and cuts in railway operations and increased costs. The first facilities of TÜVASAŞ were put into operation on October 25, 1951 under the name of “Wagon Repair Workshop” in order to eliminate these problems.

The company was converted into Adapazarı Railway Factory (ADF) since 1961 and the first wagon was produced in 1962.

As a result of the export activities started in 1971, a total of 77 wagons were exported to Pakistan and Bangladesh.

In 1975, the production of RIC type passenger wagons in international standards started at the facilities named “Adapazarı Wagon Industry Organization ADV (ADVAS).

Starting from 1976, production of electric suburban series started with the license of Alstom Company and total 75 series (225 units) were produced and delivered to TCDD.

In the 1986 winning status Today Turkey Wagon Industry Corporation (TÜVASAŞ), passenger cars, as well as research and development of electric range of manufacturing and engineering services for new projects has given density by making breakthroughs in their fields.

The projects produced during 1990 years have been matured and the design of TÜVASAŞ Rail Buses, new RIC-Z type luxury wagons and TVS 2000 air-conditioned luxury wagon projects have been completed and their production has started in 1994.

In 1995, infrastructure works were accelerated for the production of vehicles used in light rail transportation.

In 1998, TÜVASAŞ started to provide quality services in the production and repair of wagons with its experienced experts, engineers and qualified workers, and successfully completed the production of TVS 2000 type luxury bed wagons.

TÜVASAŞ, 17 August 1999 suffered enormous material damage in the Marmara Earthquake. The workshops and infrastructure of the organization, which lost the production capability, became unusable, repair and production were completely stopped.

Debris removal works started in April of 2000 and with the great efforts of TÜVASAŞ personnel, re-manufacturing and repair activities were started in a short time.

In 2001, within the framework of cooperation with SIEMENS, assembly and commissioning of 38 vehicle of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Light Rail Vehicle fleet was carried out at TÜVASAŞ facilities.

Since the year 2002, the M-Series (M10 pulman, M70 food and M80 personnel division) modernization wagon projects have been realized in order to bring the old type wagons to a modern appearance and comfort in a modern way with a modular approach.

2003 yarı During the 2009 period, semi-finished products and equipment with high added-value, information and technology intensive were localized and passenger wagons were started to be produced with 90% localization rate.

In the recent years, TÜVASAŞ has accelerated the export of wagons abroad, and generator wagons for Iraqi Railways, which were manufactured in 2005, were delivered on May 28. Thus, TÜVASAŞ has regained its identity as a company capable of exporting after 2006 year.

In the year 2008, enterprise resource planning (ERP) application, which enables monitoring and control of all business activities in computer environment, was introduced.

In the years 2008 and 2009, the 84 (28 set) metro vehicle to be operated by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality between Taksim and Yenikapı and the 75 (25 set) electric train set (suburban) vehicles of TCDD were manufactured within the framework of joint production with Hyundai / Rotem company of South Korea. .

The project titled destekleme Investigation of Passenger Wagons Under Static and Dynamic Loads X was accepted by TÜBİTAK within the scope of the support program of public institutions research projects in 2007; Computerized stress analysis of passenger wagons, high speed collision and comfort tests in road conditions made it possible to report. In addition, since the year 2009 static test stand on the products are tested.

In 2010, a multi-voltage energy supply unit (UIC voltage converter) to be used in European railways was manufactured and tested under road conditions.

In 2010, “Climatic Test Tunnel” construction was started in cooperation with Sakarya University, Uludağ University and TÜVASAŞ to test the air conditioning systems of rail vehicles and this application was presented to TÜBİTAK.

Diesel Train Set (DMU) vehicles project, which started production in 2010; It consists of a total of 12 vehicles, 3 of which are 12 and 4 of which are 84. The production of these vehicles until the end of 2013 was completed and delivered to TCDD.

In 2010, production of 275 vehicle for Marmaray Project within the framework of joint production with Hyundai / Rotem company has been started in our facilities in accordance with the contract.

TÜVASAŞ has annual 94.752 wagon manufacturing and 2 wagon repair capacity in total 110.186 m2 area, including 439.059 m2 closed area, 75 m500 housing and social facility.

In addition to the total production of 2011 Diesel Train Sets for 9 vehicles, 3 (in partnership with EUROTEM) Marmaray vehicles were produced in 144.

In the year 2012, 28 Diesel Train Set Vehicles were produced, 20 K50 Sleeper Modernization and 49 (in partnership with EUROTEM) Marmaray vehicles were produced.

In addition, in 2012, a program has been made for the production of 30 Sleepers in Bulgaria State Railways and production has been completed by the end of 2012.

One of the additional 2015 DMU vehicles, which started production in 124, was completed in 36 and delivered to TCDD. The project was completed by manufacturing 2016 units in 2017 and 46 units in 2018.

Currently, 12 set (with 3), 12 set (with 4), 84 vehicles will be produced with the old sets of 124 vehicles and new vehicles will be produced with 2 engine, 2 without motor and 52 set (4).

TUVDAS has made 31.12.2018 passenger cars and 2.300 thousand 38 passenger cars as well as maintenance, repair, revision and modernization of 490 as of the date of TCDD. In addition to removing our country from being dependent on foreign countries, TÜVASAŞ also makes a significant contribution to the national economy.

As of the year of 2019, the National Railway (EMC) project for the 100 vehicle (20 set) is in full swing. Within the scope of the project, visual and preliminary design, Nobo selection, preparation of technical specifications and body production workshop were completed. In the year 2019, the first prototype National Train set is planned to be lowered onto the rails.
