The construction works of the "Kaynarca-Pendik-Tuzla Metro", which is the third metro whose construction has stopped after the Sultanbeyli and Ataşehir metros, have started again. İmamoğlu gave the good news that they will put the Mecidiyeköy-Mahmutbey Metro and Eminönü - Alibeyköy Tram into service this year.

A ceremony was held at the central construction site in Pendik for the "Kaynarca-Pendik-Tuzla Metro Line", the construction of which has been restarted by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality after 2 years. Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality attended the ceremony. Ekrem İmamoğluCHP Deputies Turan Aydoğan and Gökan Zeybek, French Consul General in Istanbul Bertrand Buchwalter, Kartal Mayor Gökhan Yüksel, İBB Sözcüsü Murat Ongun, İBB Deputy Secretary General for Transportation İbrahim Orhan Demir, IMM Rail System Department Head Pelin Alpkökin, IMM Assembly CHP Group SözcüTarık Balyalı, İBB Assembly IYİ Party Group Deputy Chairman İbrahim Özkan, council members and muhtars attended.

“VERY SORRY, OUR HEAD THANKS”

Speaking at the ceremony, IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlustarted his speech by wishing mercy to the Turkish soldiers who lost their lives as a result of the treacherous attack in Idlib, Syria. İmamoğlu said, “I express my sadness for our 6 soldiers who were martyred. Bless their souls. Thank you to all our nation. These sad events hurt us all. It is a process that deeply upsets all our citizens, whether present or absent. I hope that we will establish peace together with countries that fully fulfill their responsibilities in achieving peace, which is the expectation of each of us, our country, and even the whole world. We are very sad, our condolences,” he said.

“We give priority to transportation and metro”

Stating that they gave priority to transportation and rail system investments as they promised during the election process when they took office, Ekrem İmamoğluHe said that the Kaynarca-Pendik-Tuzla Metro Line is one of the most important rail systems in the east of Istanbul. Expressing that they are making great efforts to streamline the irregular transportation planning system in Istanbul and to create its financing, İmamoğlu said: “As you know, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality went out to tender; However, we restarted the construction of the Çekmeköy-Sancaktepe-Sultanbeyli and Ümraniye-Göztepe-Ataşehir subways, the construction of which stopped 2 years ago. Today, the construction started in April 2017; however, we are restarting the construction of the “Kaynarca-Pendik-Tuzla Metro Line”, which stopped in October 2018 due to the failure to pay the progress payment. On this metro line, physical production is currently only two per thousand, unfortunately. Of course, we can say that we will start the construction from scratch.”

730 MILLION LIRA OF INVESTMENT

Stating that the 2017 discovery cost of the Kaynarca-Pendik-Tuzla Metro Line was 1 billion 613 million liras, and the updated prices of 2020, the tender price exceeded 2 billion 340 million liras. If it were finished, we would not have faced the price difference of 730 million liras that we are facing today. That is what I wanted to share with you the financial cost of unplanned and unorganized work for this or that kind of work, or not arranging for future financing with project ability, ”he said. Stating that they will start the investment with the 86 million euro loan they obtained from the French Development Agency, Imamoglu reminded that they found the construction of 2019 metro lines stopped in Istanbul when they came to office in June 8. The IMM President continued his words as follows:

“There were serious financial problems and technical problems in rail systems. I have companions who devotedly spend all their time in this process. Our efforts will not be limited to these 8 lines. All Istanbulites know the need of our Istanbul for the metro line as much as I do. In this sense, for example; The west side of Istanbul is also a very neglected part. Beylikdüzü and the vicinity of Esenyurt have been neglected in this sense. It is one of the most densely populated areas of Istanbul. Because currently, the population of only four districts in that region, that is, the population waiting for a metro, is 2,5 million people. The İncirli- Beylükdüzü Metro Project has been waiting on the shelf for years. We want to take a quick step in this regard. "

“THERE IS NO PLAN WITH METRO TENDER!”

“Unfortunately, our Mahmutbey-Esenyurt Metro Line has been stopped. We intend to connect İncirli- Beylükdüzü Metro and Mahmutbey-Esenyurt Metro Lines in that region. What is our interesting point? The tender for the Mahmutbey-Esenyurt Line was held. Unfortunately, it has never been started. But more interestingly, the Mahmutbey-Esenyurt Line has no projects. İmamoğlu emphasized that such mistakes made in the past were hurriedly, in order to give some political messages. Imamoglu continued his words as follows:

“It is a high cost line like Mahmutbey-Esenyurt Line. When we think that the next process will take 3 to 4 years despite all the technological developments, the time that Istanbul has lost has been lost since the tenders held in 2017 and after that when you organized the process regularly about its construction, the end of a line is about 7 and 7 It causes it to take half a year. All this is actually deep mistakes about the planning of the process. ”

MECİDİYEKÖY-MAHMUTBEY, A FEW MONTHS AFTER

IMM President Ekrem İmamoğluStating that the metro investments, which require meticulousness and technique, take time despite the advancement of technology, he said, “After a few months, we will bring the Mecidiyeköy-Mahmutbey Metro Line, which we think will make Istanbul very comfortable, together with these organized and planned works, by eliminating some of its deficiencies and making revisions, I hope we will bring it to the service of Istanbulites. A very valuable line. We already foresee that this line, which will carry over 400 thousand people in one day, will also alleviate the concentration in the metrobus. Another important line is the Eminönü-Alibeyköy Tram Line, which has occupied the historical area of the Golden Horn for years and has also turned into a kind of visual pollution. We will complete this line very quickly. Hopefully, we will bring this line together with Istanbulites this year. With all these investments, the share of the rail system in Istanbul in public transportation will have increased from 20,5 percent to 30 percent.”

NIGHT METRO WERE INTENSIVE INTEREST

Noting that they started the night metro application and that the application was in high demand from the citizens because Istanbul is a 24-hour city, İmamoğlu said, “This service, which we say we need to do, has now turned into a profitable section in a city that lives 24 hours.”

THE INTERNET WILL TAKE IN METHODS

İmamoğlu pointed out that they will undergo a very strict inspection of metro constructions for occupational safety and that they are also working to analyze air pollution in rail systems, “We continue to work on internet, Wi-fi and other services to ensure sustainable communication in subways. We will definitely share the developments with you. ”
