We are planning to complete the 53,6 km bicycle route in 1 year. ”

The first step was taken for the "Bicycle Road Project", which is one of the goals of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mansur Yavaş's healthy, economic, environmentalist, accessible, safe and sustainable transportation.

The first pickaxe was shot in the scope of the first phase construction works, which started on a 3,5-kilometer route between the National Library and Ankara University.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY CITY BAŞKENT

EGO General Manager Nihat Alkaş, who examined the first stage of the Bicycle Path Project consisting of 9 stages in total with the participation of Bicycle Communities and citizens, said that they have dreamed of a city with less cars and more pedestrians and cyclists.

“We wanted to make a mentality change, a revolution in transportation in Ankara. Ankara has become a city with 1,6 million cars and this is not sustainable. We want to take Ankara from cars and transform it into a human-oriented city. Ankara will have pedestrians, public transportation and cyclists. We want to reduce carbon emissions as much as possible. ”

SECURITY IN THE FOREIGN PLAN FOR THE PROJECT THAT WILL BE COMPLETED IN 1 YEAR

Saying that they aim to prevent air and noise pollution and reduce the traffic density in the capital, Alkaş stated that they consider important criteria while determining the routes in the project:

“While determining the cycling routes, we have prepared a project that prioritizes security by considering the mobility of the city, the central points, the slope, the topography, the places where carbon emissions can be intense, and the separation of these roads with separators. At the end of 1 year, we will complete all the route stages and bring 53,6 kilometers of bicycle path to our Capital. ”
