Metro Istanbul, a subsidiary of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), conducted passenger density analysis on weekends in line with requests from passengers. As a result of these analyzes, it was determined that the density of M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman line increased on Saturdays and the capacity should be increased.
Metro Istanbul, which carries more than 2 million passengers every day, provides services with 2-vehicle trains on the M5 line for 8 days during the week and 4-vehicle trains on the weekend.

In line with the demand from citizens, the density of passengers will be reduced by using 8-car trains on Saturdays and a more comfortable service will be provided. Weekend 8-vehicle expedition application will begin on Saturday, January 4, 2020.
With this application on Saturday, the number of vehicles on trains 84 to 112, hourly passenger carrying capacity by 33 percent increase in two directions from 34 thousand 200 to 45 thousand 600 will rise. During the day, 14 trains will make 190 trips in one direction and 40 train drivers will serve.
