After TCDD Tasimacilik's regulation, which was the subject of the "discount arrangement" statement, in response to the exorbitant hike reaction on high-speed train (YHT) tickets, eyes were turned to whether a new arrangement would be made in tickets and new steps to be taken in rail passenger transportation.
No backtracking on new tariffs. The new tariffs concern 7 thousand of the 350 million YHT passengers annually. TCDD Tasimacilik's goal is to gradually reduce the annual loss of 1 billion TL; To increase the number of passengers and the quality of service especially in the “business class” preferred by business people. In YHT ticket tariffs, no new regulation is foreseen after the "discount adjustment". After the increase in food service quality, an increase in "business class" ticket prices is considered certain.
TCDD Tasimacilik took some important steps regarding YHT ticket prices, effective from the first days of this month. First, arrangements were made for business class tickets. As of January 3, "business class" discounts have been completely removed.
Then, the price advantage in tickets that provide multiple round-trip tickets used by those who constantly travel on the same line (for example, between Ankara - Eskişehir or Ankara - Konya) were eliminated and the discounts applied to these tickets were significantly reduced. After this regulation, new tariffs came into effect.
