Tunnel boring machine reached the third station in Fahrettin Altay - Narlıdere metro line construction.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Rail System Department's efforts to extend the Bornova Evka 3 - Fahrettin Altay metro line to Narlıdere are continuing uninterruptedly. The giant tunnel boring machine (TBM), which exceeded the 860-meter distance between Balçova and Çağdaş stations about a month ago, completed the 460-meter excavation from Çağdaş Station to Dokuz Eylül University Hospital Station. Thus, an important phase of the project has been passed.

The length of the line will be 7,2 km

F.Altay-Narlıdere line, which is the new link of the rail system chain, has a total length of 179 kilometers and tunnel excavation works are being carried out at seven planned stations simultaneously. The new metro line will be 7,2 km long. The entire line will pass underground.

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality aims to reduce traffic congestion with the expanding metro network and to minimize the use of transportation-induced fossil fuels that cause climate crisis.

Temel was laid in 2018

F. Altay-Narlıdere line, which is the 4th stage of İzmir Metro, includes Balçova, Çağdaş, Dokuz Eylül University Hospital, Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF), Narlıdere, Şehitlik and Kaymakamlık stops.
