Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) continues its comprehensive works by putting the preparation for the possible Istanbul earthquake at the top of its priority. IMM Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Improvement Department determined the Meeting and Temporary Housing Areas of 39 districts in the works it continues. Temporary Housing Areas where evacuation will be provided after the meeting areas were determined by following the decision support model. Temporary Housing Areas should have available systems such as electricity, water, sewerage, and communications that have the infrastructure to enable people affected by the disaster to overcome temporary accommodation and acute shock, and to meet the most basic needs of people.
In determining Temporary Housing Areas; property, areal size (scale); transportation, location and environmental relations, usability and multifunctionality, infrastructure, natural structure and climate criteria were taken into consideration.
