Who is Murat Günak

Murat Günak was born in Istanbul in 1957. He is the former chief designer of Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz.

After graduating from secondary school in Istanbul, Günak studied industrial design at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste (Academy of Fine Arts) in Kassel. He then worked at the Royal College of Art in London, under the direction of Claude Lobo and Patrick Le Quément, for which he was awarded the award of the Master of Automotive Design sponsored by Ford. After graduation, he worked at Ford Germany for two years and then worked as a designer at Mercedes-Benz for 8 years. Here, he designed the models Mercedes manufactured between 202 and 2000 coded W2007.

In 1994, he was appointed as Design Chief to Peugeot. During this period, he was in the design stage of Peugeot 206 model. With its 206 designs, it has become a well-known name all over the world. After 206 designs, he also took part in the design process of 307 and 607 models of the French brand.

After the Peugeot studies, Murak Günak started working at Mercedes company, where he designed the Maybach coupe model that rivals the Bugatti EB-118 and the Sport Coupe model of the Mercedes C Series. In 1998, he became Vice President of Mercedes-Benz and DaimlerChrysler for all passenger cars.

In April 2003, he joined the Design Team of Volkswagen brand group and became Design Manager. Here he worked on the design of the Golf Plus model, Passat and Phaeton.

After Volkswagen, Günak worked in Hybrid car designs in a company called Mindset. The plug-in hybrid car project, which was headed by him, produced a total range of 800 km (petrol + electricity).

After Mindset AG, Günak participated in a new electric vehicle project called electric Mia electric üret in France between 2011-2013.

Later, he worked at the German electric car and mobility company Tretbox and Türk Ono technology and simulation companies.
Finally Gunak the name of the Car of Turkey made a presentation on December 27 Venture Group was heard in the presentation.

Mercedes SLK, Mercedes C Series, Peugeot 206, Volkswagen Eos and Volkswagen Golf GTI are among the major car brands that he designed.
