Istanbul residents, who wanted to object to the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report of the project, concentrated in the Provincial Directorates of Environment and Urbanization in Beşiktaş and Ataşehir. The objection process, which started with the acceptance of the EIA report on Monday, 23 December, will end on 2 January.

LONG TAILS FORMED

Citizens who want to submit a petition to the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization in the district of Besiktas shared the reasons for the appeal. Mine Ayşe Adıgüzel, who was waiting in line to submit a petition, said:

“Istanbul already has a strait. First of all, I think the project is against nature. We have to say no for that. Creatures will die, nature will change. What happens in case of an earthquake? It is said that a new city will be established. We have not yet recovered our Istanbul. Why and for whom will the new city be? Will the cost be on our back again? Other things can be done with that much money. With more ambition to win, we must not forget what we lost. ”

Commenting on the comparison of the project with the world's channels, Mehmet Akar said, “He cited the President Suez and Panama Channels as an example. However, these channels make the road shorter. The Suez Canal saves ships from the trouble of traveling all over Africa and Panama all over South America. Our throat is 30 kilometers. It would be very unnecessary to open the 46-kilometer channel while there. ”

Kasım Göktaş, one of the Istanbulites who wanted to reach their objections without paying attention to the cold weather, said:

Herkes Everyone sees the ordeal of the people. We don't need a new transition. He needs to work for the nation, breathe easy. We don't need anyone to benefit from rent. We need to hire the unemployed. We are here waiting for our children. ”

Objection period ends on 2 January
