THBB, the Regional System Operator of the Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC), and KGS Economic Enterprise (KGS), the Certification Body of the Council, continue to work intensively for the companies applying for certification by the Sorumlu Responsible Use of Resources System ”.
Accordingly, KGS audited the facilities of ÇİMKO Çimento and Beton Sanayi Ticaret AŞ, which applied to certify two ready-mixed concrete plants. As a result of the audits, ÇİMKO Osmaniye Ready-Mixed Concrete Plant and Altınşehir Ready-Mixed Concrete Plant in Adıyaman were entitled to the “Responsible Use of Resources Certificate of Concrete Sustainability Council”. Following these certifications, ÇİMKO applied for certification of Narlı Cement Factory. As a result of the audits carried out by KGS, ÇİMKO Çimento's Narlı Cement Factory was entitled to “Responsible Use of Resources Certificate of Concrete Sustainability Council”. After being active in our country, ÇİMKO has achieved a significant success by certifying its 3 facilities. Afterwards, ÇİMKO increased the certification level of Osmaniye and Altınşehir Ready-Mixed Concrete Plants to the level of silver.
A ceremony was held in Gaziantep in order to present the documents of the facilities that have achieved this important success. At the ceremony held on 18 December 2019, Governor of Gaziantep Davut Gül, Mayor of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Fatma Şahin, Şehitkamil Mayor Rıdvan Fadıloğlu, Şahinbey Mayor Mehmet Tahmazoğlu, ERMCO and THBB President Yavuz Işık, SANKO Holding Honorary Chairman Abdulkadir Konukoğlu, SANKO Holding Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors Adil Sani Konukoğlu; Önder Kırca, THBB Secretary General Aslı Özbora Tarhan, KGS Economic Enterprise Director Selçuk Uçar, senior civilian supervisors in Gaziantep, the heads of professional chambers and unions, university representatives, managers of SANKO Holding and invited guests. The documents that ÇİMKO was entitled to receive were presented to the officials of ÇİMKO Narlı Cement Factory and Osmaniye and Golden City Ready-Mixed Concrete Plants by ERMCO and THBB President Yavuz Işık.

In his speech at the ceremony, ERMCO and THBB President Yavuz Işık said, “The sustainability title, which has become increasingly important in almost every sector, has a great meaning especially for our sector. Sustainability aims to ensure that our needs are met without compromising the needs of future generations. In line with this objective, the Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) was established in 2016. TRMCA as, being a member of this council as well as the certification of Turkey 'system operator' as we served. In addition, our independent self-regulation mechanism KGS has been authorized by the Council and appointed as 'Certification Body'. CSC offers a Model for Responsible Use of Resources Certification for concrete and its two most important components, cement and aggregate materials. With this certification system, our sector has achieved a worldwide accepted model that improves its sustainability performance. Thus, the sensitivity and efforts of the concrete, cement and aggregate producers in our sector in terms of sustainability; It has been ensured that it can be shown to the whole world with a reliable, independent and data-based certification process. ÇİMKO, a member of our Association, was immediately involved in this system, which was first launched in 2017 and adapted to our country in 2018 by taking a highly responsible step towards sustainability. Being among the first cement plants and ready-mixed concrete plants that have CSC certification in our country has been an award of our efforts and became the motivation tool for spreading this standard to our other facilities.
