Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer objected to the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report of the "Kanal Istanbul" project. In the morning hours of Izmir Bayraklı Mayor Soyer, who went to the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization in his district, delivered his signed petition to the authorities, including his objections regarding the EIA report.
Making a statement on the subject, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer said, “I also filed an appeal with the idea that it is a citizenship duty to object to the 'Canal Istanbul' project, which will affect not only Istanbul, but also the Black Sea and Marmara seas, and will have great environmental, economic and political consequences.” He spoke in the form.
Citizens who want to submit petitions to the EIA report of the Channel Istanbul project created long queues at the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization. In the morning, President Tunç Soyer, as well as CHP İzmir Provincial Chairman Deniz Yücel, İzmir deputies, district mayors and İzmir residents were among those who filed the appeal.
