After the Istanbul subway, which came to the fore with the resource crisis and the collapses, the eyes were turned into underground metro projects all over the country. While the Municipality of CHP seeking credit for the metro, the ministry undertook the subway construction in Bursa and Kocaeli. Konya subway, which was launched in 2004, is expected to be hit soon.

We also examined some metro works in big cities other than Istanbul. However, we encountered remarkable findings. While the Ministry undertakes the metro works in cities such as Kocaeli, Bursa and Konya, there is a resource crisis in Mersin, which is managed by the CHP, just like Istanbul.

KOCAELİ: MINISTRY UNDER THE METRO

The foundation of Gebze-Darıca OSB Metro in Kocaeli was laid on October 20, 2018. Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality with AKP has undertaken the project alone with a cost of 5 billion liras. However, the expected progress in the project was not achieved in the past 1 year. AKP president Tahir Büyükakın, who took office in the March 31st elections, handed over the municipality to Ankara. A protocol was signed between the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality on 18 October 2019. Mayor Büyükakın said, “With this project we transferred to our Ministry of Transport, we will have used the resources of our Metropolitan Municipality in many other projects.”

Before the 31 March Elections, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality placed metro stop signs in the region, but these signs were removed after the elections.

BURSA: MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT

The project of the Bursaray Labor Line to reach the City Hospital will be done by the Ministry of Transport. The Emek metro line will be extended by approximately 5,5 kilometers for transportation to the city hospital. The project will be tendered at the beginning of 2020. The construction of the line is expected to take 1,5-2 years. It has been learned that a clear cost figure for which feasibility studies continue, has not been released yet.

MERSİN: CREDIT IS LOOKING FOR

Mayor of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Vahap Seçer said that they will hit the dig in 2020 for Metro Project which is an important investment project for Mersin.

It was learned that the metro line will be 28.6 kilometers long, which will be planned in the form of 7 half kilometer above ground metro, 13.4 kilometer underground rail system and 7.7 kilometer as tramway.

Mersin Metropolitan Municipality is also planning another tram line to the University Hospital and the University route.

Mayor of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Vahap Seçer stated that the search for loans for metro and tram works would be from abroad. Mayor Seçer said, ım Let's find the loan from there, let the firm do the construction, we want to give the financing and the construction of the business to a place ”.

KONYA: LAUNCHED IN 2015 COMING SOON!

Tahir Akyürek, who was elected Mayor of AKP in the 2004 local elections in Konya, promised Metro. In 2015, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu launched the promotion of the metro project. The tender for the subway project was held last September. China CMC-Taşyapı Construction partnership won the tender with a bid of 1 billion 196 million 923 Euro and 29 cent.

Ugur Ibrahim Altay, Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, announced that the work on the metro project financed by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure will begin soon.
